Yesterday was a cooking day. I don't have as many of them as I used to but when I do I am always amazed at how good of a cook I really am. lol sorry, don't mean to brag... Here are a few pictures of the yummy results...
I made a centerpiece for Christmas but was never satisfied with it.. was too flat and too big around. Just wasn't a good fit for my table. So I ended up the other day taking it all apart, cut the base down and redid it.
Here it is....
Then I had two candle holders that were just never finished all the way so today I finished them... now I'll put them away and bring them out when the holidays roll around again.
I am so proud of these... this time I think I've done a better job.. I had such good luck finding the flowers and containers... love the little wooden hearts that I painted and glued to the sticks to use in the arrangements. Love all the bows and am very proud of the fact I was able to purchase the ribbons at the dollar store to make them. I really saved a whole bunch by shopping at the dollar store first.. We wire the baskets to concrete blocks to keep them from tipping over or blowing away. Since we live so far we can't check often so this gives us peace of mind knowing they will still be there when we go to change them. I may cover the blocks with moss just to make them look better.. I've done that before.
Sometimes pictures just don't do justice to a project... that said, I finished the centerpiece finally. I do like it. Not professional but pretty. The picture makes it look sloppy and the light wasn't good when I took it. Might take a few more tomorrow. If I get a better one I will replace this one.
I finished some more arrangements... here they are
Isn't this a pretty bow? I got this ribbon at an estate sale. It's the wide wired kind. There were about fifteen spools of wide assorted designs and colors and at least a dozen of a narrower kind. Hit the jackpot for six bucks. J
I have started making new Holiday arrangements to take to the cemetery. Here's the first one. I finished it today. It's very long, at least four feet. When I move it to the other table I will be able to take some better pictures, but for now...
Here are some other views of the same arrangement....
I've finished the arrangements.. some of these colors are not my favorites anymore but they are fall colors so they are appropriate for the upcoming season.
This is one of the next arrangements I will take to the cemetery in mid September. Some think I'm wierd taking a halloween tree with ghosts, black cats and jackolanterns to a cemetery but that is their problem. I know Kiko would like this arrangement... perhaps better than any other I've made so far.
This is a wooden cut out, I bought several years ago at a thrift shop. It was unpainted and the lines were not all drawn. I painted it, drew the outlines and sealed it with a waterproof sealer. Over all it's about 12 inches long way and 7 or so inches high. It really turned out cute. J.
Yes, it's been a really long time since I've posted here, but that's because I had been unable to do any crafts. Now after three surgeries and months later with therapy etc, here I am almost back to normal. I am so very grateful.
This is the very first craft I've done in months and months. It's a little Jack Frost ornament to hang on the tree.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things...
It rained all night.. dark and dreary. Then in the morning the sun broke through the dark rain filled clouds. Love is when someone calls to tell you to hurry and look out the window toward the west where there is a wonderful double rainbow.
Creating something...
I love crafts. I'm not a professional crafter, but I have lots of fun. One of my favorite things to make is Christmas ornaments. There's a great sense of accomplishment when one finishes a project. And there's a feeling of anticipation when one begins something new. I've always wished for great artistic talent, but that's not to be. Doing crafts, for me though, is more than just making something. When I'm working on a project I am also creating a more peaceful environment. I believe peace is probably the answer to many ills.
