Nativity set

I have this really nice Nativity set that I haven't displayed in over ten years.  Why?  Well because it was on the very top of the top shelf way up where I couldn't reach it even if I was standing on a chair which I would never do anymore.  But hubby got on the step stool and reached it down for me.  I think it looks so nice but I really wish I had a short strand of clear lights to use with it.  Maybe I'll send hubby to buy it.  He's my gofer guy.

See?  I told you it was pretty.

Petit fours, Cake balls and Candy of all kinds... ready to go. etc.

I don't even know how many cake balls,  petit fours or candy I made.  I do know I made cookie balls with leftover cookies... and there were three different kinds of cookies all blended together. I used leftover chocolate chip, macadamia nut and sugar cookies.  Blended them till they were crumbs, added softened cream cheese and tasted... oh no too bland. What should I do.  Let's see, I think I'll add rum flavor... ok that's done, but it still needs something.  Hmmm a teaspoon of orange extract?  Yes. Oh my that is super ... then I dipped them in white chocolate.  I think they are my favorite.  Also made vanilla fudge, rocky road candy, chocolate fudge, peanut butter candy, pistachio candy,  My house smelled like sugar..  and that was good... for awhile. Then between tasting and smelling I was tired of the smell.  I was happy when it was all packaged up and ready to go.  I ended up making thirteen containers to give away.  I'm done with that for another year.

I Love Christmas...

And I love the decorations on Christmas..  love looking at how others decorate their trees and their houses.. both inside and out.   I'm old now and have some physical limitations so I don't do all that I used to... but I did have fun with the crafts I've done and so... put them all together and made a table that looks (to me) amazing..  I will update these as soon as I finish decorating. Reeses.... P.B. Cups... faux of course

Today I made my version of Reeses peanut butter cups.  They are yummy delicious, but the only problem is, they are messy. The chocolate melts on the fingers so one has to eat it fast.  I'd rather eat candy really slow and let it melt in my mouth. But they are good. I used a couple of recipes, taking the parts from each that sounded the best.. Check these out..

Can you see how creamy that tastes?
Surely this qualifies as a craft.

Angels.....

Several years ago, my nephew and his wife gave me a set of three sitting angels.. Trouble is I needed a shelf to sit them on.  Time passed.  It didn't get done. But this year I wanted to put them out during the Christmas holiday... so mac cut three blocks from a 2x4, painted them white and I varnished them and put felt on the bottom, then I glued the angels to the blocks.  I'm so happy to have them ready to display when I put out the decorations ....

I told you how pretty they are.. click on the pic to really see them.  J

Yes it is... Cooking food is crafting.. yes it is. Isn't it?

Today besides a bunch of other things I made six mini fruit cake loaves and a pan full of dipped marshmallows.  I'm not too crazy about the marshmallows so I can leave them alone.

These are the best fruit cakes I've ever tasted.

I saw these on Pinterest.  I think kids will like them.

Ornaments ornaments and more ornaments

I love sales of used things like rummage, estate, yard sales and the dollar store.  I found all the ornaments at used sales.. and most of the stuff I put inside there too,  but I did find a couple of the angels at the dollar store. All the scraps of flowers, tinsel, and trims I already had. I keep all that kind of stuff and buy it through the year whenever I go to sales etc.  Here are the ornaments after I finished decorating them.  Keep in mind they were just plain glass balls when I got them. Had fun doing this and my tree will be different this year. All in all I made thirty ornaments.

Did you know if you click on the picture it will enlarge so you can see it better?  Try it.

I got so lucky, at one sale I found a card with 7 figures from the Nativity on it.  They didn't look so great inside the plastic but they were miniature figures and those are hard to find.. so I took a chance and bought them.  When I removed them from the card and plastic, they were rather cute and just the right size to fit inside some of these clear ornaments.  Made my day.
